Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays hold huge advantages over traditional X-ray methods. With the use of a small camera, images of your teeth and gums are relayed to a computer screen, allowing you and our dentists here at South Cambridge Dental to review them almost immediately. The pictures are high-quality and extremely clear, and best of all, digital X-rays have been shown to reduce radiation exposure by almost 90%. This technology makes it possible to take pictures of your teeth and gums in a much safer way.

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral cameras make it possible to take very clear images inside your mouth and magnify them several times for viewing on a computer monitor. These very small cameras allow you to see exactly what our doctors and their dental team see, helping you to visualize any problem areas among your teeth and gums. Cavities, cracks in the teeth, receding gums, and many other conditions can typically be clearly seen on the intraoral camera’s high-resolution images. The pictures obtained by intraoral cameras can help you to better comprehend what may be going on with your dental health, allowing you to better communicate with our doctors about your needs and make a more educated decision regarding your treatment. These images can also help our dentist with the documentation process for your insurance company, which can ultimately speed up the claims process.

Panoramic x-rays

2D x-ray that captures the whole mouth in a single shot
Our dentists at South Cambridge Dental are pleased to feature panoramic X-rays at our practice. Panoramic X-ray allows us to capture images of your entire orofacial region, giving us a better understanding of your overall oral health and helping us to plan more effective treatments. Also, panoramic X-rays are an important diagnostic tool and are also valuable for planning future treatment. This X-ray detects the position of fully emerged and emerging teeth, can see impacted teeth and helps diagnose tumours.
